Gurudevarahalli Madegowda polularly known as G. Madegowda, was an Indian freedom fighter, politician and also an activist. He was former member of parliment and cabinet minister in the state of karnataka. hailing form an agricultural family, he was born in 1928 at Gurudevarahalli in mandya district. He came to limelight during Cauvery agitation for nearly four decades in mandya district. He was inspired by Mahathma Gandhi, and he took part in freedom struggle, and he started Gandhi Smaraka Trust thinking to be self sufficient as self employed people by getting trained in many handicrafts and cottage industries. G Madegowda founded the Bharathi Education Trust (R) in 1961
with the lofty object of provoiding higher education to empower rural students and B.E.T. Polytechnic was established in 1986 with a view to providing technical education to rural and backward class students by Bharathi Education Trust (R) as desired by reverend Dr G Madegowda. As per the wishes of Dr G Madegowda it has been continuously importing good technical education to the students of rural areas for almost 32 years and has gained a reputation as a good technical education intistution. Now lakhs of rural youths who have studies in Bharathi Polytechnic and come out are now leading a good life as employees and employer in different parts of the country and also in globally.
